Valtravieso is one of the first wineries to have its own vineyard in Ribera del Duero, located in one of the region’s highest limestone moorlands at an altitude of 920m, where the average is 750m . From this unique setting where our vineyards and winery are located, we seek to achieve the highest quality in all our processes, with minimum intervention in both the field and winemaking. We thus achieve high altitude wines, in limestone moorland, with a unique personality and style: elegant, deep, and long, with mineral and fresh notes. Please, have a look to the info attached about our 2 different projects covering 5 D.O.s: VALTRAVIESO: Our main project of elegant and fresh wines in: D.O. Ribera del Duero: made of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), Cabernet and Melot, making careful use of the barrels giving an elegant touch but avoiding heavy oaky style. D.O. Rueda: made of old vines Verdejo grapes on its lees for 8 months. A gastronomic wine. VIÑEDOS OLVIDADOS (Forgotten Vineyards): We rescue very old and abandoned vineyards in different areas of Spain, trying to recover the best grapes on a refined style, implanting our know-how of high-altitude winemaking: D.O. Arlanza: Old vines the mountain, at 1.000m, with many different small plots and indigenous grapes, even not defined yet… D.O. Jumilla: Ungrafted very old vines of Monastrell. D.O. Ribera del Jucar: Concentrated old vines of Bobal. In the last report of Tim Atkin about Ribera del Duero, apart from the good ratings for our wines, he chose our winemaker, Ricardo Velasco, as the most promising winemaker of the year!
