Our History goes back in time.
The lands of our estate were once a place for travelers to rest along the “Via Del Sale” (Salt Route) connecting Rome to Rimini. The fertile and welcoming soul of the fields hosted the inhabitants of the area.
The company was divided in four farms, each of wich was managed by a big patriarchal family.
Many strong arms worked ceaselessly on the land until the industrial development of the 1960s turned them into factory workers, making them leave the countryside. Since 1971 we have been cultivating our dream with passion and perseverance.
For 50 years our family has been tightly bound to this estate and today it stretches over 42 hectares with Vineyards and 6000 olive trees, selected from the most valuable and profitable crops. Our annual production is of 300.000 bottles and we are present in almost 20 countries in the world.
Poggio Rozzi’s story began in 2004 when Count Eberhard von Toggenburg and his parents (descendants of a familiy with nearly 1000 years of history) discovered the neglected estate and saw its hidden potential—a rough diamond waiting to shine. Captivated by its stunning location in the heart of Tuscany’s Chianti region, they embarked on a journey to restore and transform it. Through dedication and respect for nature, the winery was carefully developed into a thriving, sustainable estate.
Today, Eberhard von Toggenburg continues this vision, producing five exceptional Tuscan wines that reflect the rich ecosystem, ideal microclimate, and fertile soils of Poggio Rozzi. Each wine carries a piece of family history, honoring the strong personalities behind the estate and bringing their legacy to the world.
The Poggiosecco farm is located in the Montalbano area between the limestone soils and sandstone rocks of the hills of Cerreto Guidi and Vinci, a land suited to viticulture and the production of excellent wines.
The company's vineyards and olive groves extend along the border between the provinces of Florence and Siena, at about 100/350 meters above sea level, with an optimal exposure that allows for perfect ripening of the grapes and olives.
The company, operating in the area since 1967, has been certified organic since 2004
In Artimino the passion for wine comes from the distant past, back to the Etruscans. The Medici family first sparked interest in quality wine, in particular with the edict of Cosimo I of 1716. Since the 1980s the Tenuta di Artimino has been owned by the Olmo family: the third generation, now at the helm, has chosen to focus on sustainable and responsible agriculture, honoring this ancient history and centuries-old traditions. 70 hectares of splendid vineyards surround the Medici Villa La Ferdinanda (Unesco world heritage site), with noble vines such as Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, said to have been brought by Catherine de’ Medici. These are wines from a secluded, more authentic Tuscany, where the pace of life is still marked by the rhythms of nature and the countryside.
The Tenuta San Vito is surrounded by woods and hills and embellished with a small lake. It is located in Montelupo Fiorentino, only 18 km from Florence, and is part of the Chianti Colli Fiorentini area. The estate covers 130 hectares, of which 30 are vineyards and 12 are cultivated olive groves. Since 1985, the Tenuta San Vito produces fine wines and extra virgin olive oil according to the ancient Tuscan traditions and the modern techniques of organic cultivation.
Nestled in the Tuscan countryside, namely on the border between Chianti Colli Fiorentini and Chianti Classico, in the midst of monasteries, churches and country villas, is an artisan winery that keeps together a modern approach of quality with a solid tradition awarded from copious international recognition of prizes and awards. Founded in the early 1970s in the Castle of Montespertoli by French schooled enologist Dr. Giuseppe Losapio, the winery was established at San Vincenzo a Torri in 1976. Their vineyards now stretch over the hillsides joining Montespertoli with Montelupo Fiorentino and San Casciano Val di Pesa. The vines grow at altitudes of 250-300 meters, and provide quality fruit that becomes excellent wine under the supervision of their passionate staff. A new generation has now taken the reins, with General Manager Fabio Martelli, Winemaker Daniele Prosperi and Export Manager Giacomo Fossati carrying on the Uggiano traditions with pride. This dynamic team’s main aim is to maintain the founding values, while adding new and innovative features to the business as it grows. Since 1976 the winery produces a wide range of wines typical of Tuscany. Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG, with Chianti Riserva DOCG, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon based Supertuscans and the niche production from Montalcino (Rosso and Brunello) represent the highest expression of Uggiano’s winemaking tradition as well as being the symbols of its success.
All the wines are skillfully overseen by a professional team of oenologists who are engaged in the pursuit of excellence in quality. The atmospheric aging cellars hold wooden barrels with a capacity of 3,000-6,000 liters for maturing the wine and 225-liter French oak barrique casks where Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay are matured for longer periods to enhance their aromatics.
In 2019 Uggiano took over a boutique winery in the heart of Maremma, Tuscany, where, more than 2000 years ago, the ancient Etruscans dedicated their lives to making great quality wine. Tenuta Aquilaia covers an area of forty hectares, including fifteen hectares of vineyard, in the Fosso Sanguinaio stream valley, close to where it meets the Albegna river. Local grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ciliegiolo and Sangiovese are well matched with the international grapes Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Alicante and Merlot.
