Winemaker Notes
"Sourced from the esteemed Lusatia Park Vineyard in the Upper Yarra, this Pinot Noir reflects the pedigree of one of the region’s most iconic sites. Planted in 1985 on the rich, volcanic soils of the Upper Yarra, this mature vineyard delivers fruit with remarkable intensity and character.
Hand-picked into half-ton bins and carefully transported to the winery, the fruit was 100% destemmed and meticulously sorted. Fermentation spanned 15 to 20 days, allowing for a gentle extraction and vibrant aromatics, before being pressed off to French barriques, 15% of which were new. The result is a finely detailed wine with layered red fruits, lifted spice, and a sense of elegance that captures both the charm of the Upper Yarra and the character of this established site." Tasting Notes
"Upper Yarra Pinot Noir shows up with a serious perfume and flavour structure. It opens with a fragrant strawberry, red cherry, mulberry and pomegranate tang. The fruit is framed in fine spice of pink peppercorn, nutmeg and cloves. All this is filled with umami notes of fresh button mushroom and wet forest floor. Fine, silty tannins sink in red berry juice and very fresh, lightly salty acidity.
A Very elegant Pinot and built to last, or at least let it evolve in the glass."
