Winemaker Notes
"The Gippsland Pinot Noir is a blend of all the new and grafted vines from the Avon Vineyard, Showcasing three Pinot Noir clones - MV6, Abel, and 114. This wine is crafted as our expression of a “village” Pinot Noir: a true representation of the broader Gippsland region and the diversity within the site. The fruit was hand-picked into 15kg baskets, hand-sorted, and gently destemmed into fermenters. Fermentation lasted around 20 days, followed by pressing and maturation in large-format oak - specifically 1800L foudres - for 10 months. The wine was racked in January and bottled in February 2025, resulting in a Pinot Noir that’s vibrant, approachable, and distinctly Gippsland" Xavier Goodridge
Tasting Notes
"This Gippsland Pinot Noir is in many aspects savoury, but the perfume is filled with sweet notes of lilac, violets and hibiscus flowers. The core is built on blueberries, sour figs, red cherries and raspberries. The fruit is cool, and the tannins build into a smooth slate-like texture. All of it is bound with perky, taut acidity and bloody, iron-like minerality.
Very pretty and graceful Pinot painted in shades of blue and purple. Tantalising."
